This year I've made a holiday donation to one of my favourite non-profits, Eleven Eleven Animal Rescue. Not only do they do amazing work finding "forever" homes for abandoned animals, persistently nursing "lost causes" back to health, and raising awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering, they use social-media tools like Twitter,Facebook and Vimeo with an ease and effectiveness rarely seen by large companies – let alone small, local non-profits. Their fundraising methods – including meet 'n' greet sessions with some of their neediest critters, a cute-boys-with-cute-animals calendar, rock concerts, and collaborations with retailers – are creative and inspiring.
