Zoonini Web Services - ZooNews - Issue 15 - Summer 2006

Welcome to the Summer 2006 issue of ZooNews, brought to you by Montreal professional Web site design company Zoonini Web Services. In the summer-holiday spirit, this month's newsletter will be an abbreviated estival edition.

-- Tip for Tat --

After several months of ZooNews being undeliverable to Videotron customers, we believe we've finally found a workaround – at least for now! The problem stemmed from the fact that this large Quebec cable company/ISP has attempted to reduce the amount of spam received by its customers by employing an unusual – and incredibly heavy-handed – spam-reduction technique. Their method, while indeed decreasing the amount of delivered spam – unfortunately also blocks legitimate mail from being received by its customers. So a heads-up to all Videotron clients: if someone you know says they sent you a message – but you never received it – chances are very good that they are a culprit of Videotron's Draconian anti-spam "solution." If you want to learn more about what's exactly is going on (and can read French), check out message-board threads #1 and #2. Saddled with a Videotron.ca email address and not pleased with the situation? Complaints may be directed to the Videotron customer service department.

We're proud to announce the recent launch of the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation site remake. On this project, the talented folks at IDG Communications deftly handled the redesign, while Zoonini built and programmed the site using the custom-made content-management system – in its first bilingual incarnation – crafted in association with our partner Gabrielle Zacek of Cresedo Tec. The site overhaul has been garnering rave reviews and online donations have been flowing in, to the delight of all concerned.

ZooNews will resume its regular format in September. I hope all of you able to take some time off this summer have a wonderful break, and to those who haven't, I wish you a couple of relaxing long weekends at the very least! On the Zoonini front, I'm lucky enough to be taking a few much-needed weeks off this August – to a place so far away it's currently winter there. I am fortunate to have two trusted colleagues handling any urgent tasks while I'm away and look forward to being refreshed and raring to go on my return.

Warmest greetings to everyone and see you all in the Fall!

À la prochaine,

kp
